Hai Phong city allowed tourist sites and hotels to resume operation in June, but only for city residents. Quang Ninh province restored tours within the province on Tuesday and intends to welcome tourists from other northern localities in November. The Center for Hue Monument Conservation reopened in June, and Quang Nam province has restored tours of Hoi An, Cu Lao Cham, and the My Son tower relic site.

Kien Giang province plans to start receiving foreign tourists to Phu Quoc island in October. Phu Quoc city is accelerating full vaccination of local residents, according to Huynh Quang Hung, Chairman of the Phu Quoc municipal People’s Committee.

'We really hope to vaccinate all the people on the island. We need 250,000 to 300,000 doses of vaccine. After full inoculation, we will pilot receiving tourists with a vaccine passport,' said Hung.

Khanh Hoa province intends to receive tourists from localities that have contained the pandemic. Foreign tourists with a vaccine passport can stay at hotels and resorts in the Cam Ranh peninsula. The province will offer package tours for domestic tourists from elsewhere in Vietnam.

Nguyen Tan Tuan, Chairman of the Khanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee, said, 'The Department of Tourism will work with travel associations and Cam Ranh airport on a plan to receive fully-vaccinated tourists and tighten disease control. Visitors will be tested upon arrival, before joining a package tour.'

Ba Ria-Vung Tau province has piloted receiving domestic tourists who have booked package tours. The province has reopened the Ho Tram complex, the Melia Ho Tram hotel, and Binh Chau spring – all in Xuyen Moc district – and the Con Dao Six Senses Resort in Con Dao district.

Now that the pandemic is under control, reviving domestic tourism is the first step toward fully restoring Vietnam’s tourism industry.
