The sectors with high labor demand include trade, services, consulting, research and development, IT, garments, footwear, tourism, hotels, restaurants, food technology, transportation, electronics, and electrical engineering. This year the labor market is more stable than last year when the pandemic was spreading. Many businesses are recruiting skilled workers in order to be stable and adapt to the pandemic in the long term.

According to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, businesses in key economic regions will need approximately 700,000 employees this year. In HCM City alone, 600,0000 new jobs will be available. At the current pace of economic recovery, businesses in HCM City will need a large number of workers, says Phan Ky Quan Triet, Deputy Director of the Center for HR and Labor Market Forecast.

Mr. Triet said: "The food processing, consulting services, tourism, restaurant, and communications sectors will recruit a large number of workers. Other sectors in the digital economy -  electronics, high tech, and support services  -  will also see high demand for workers."

In Hanoi, the retail sector is hiring an increasing number of workers.

Vu Quang Thanh, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Employment Service Center, said: "This year, the retail sector will need 20,000 to 25,000 new employees. Retail businesses selling electronic products and telecommunications will need more workers this year and will pay 400 to 700 USD per month. The manufacturing and processing sectors will also offer a lot of new jobs. Many foreign invested companies are expanding their operation in Vietnam and receiving more orders."

Higher demand for labor will create new opportunities for workers but will require them to improve their skills and qualifications to adapt and meet the needs of employers.
