The Hanoi Confederation of Labor has directed its local units to organize a “Tet get-together – connecting compassion” program, and ensure that salaries, bonuses, and gifts are distributed and visits are made to workers’ families. At a city-wide Tet get-together on January 30, Hanoi will hand out 7,000 gifts worth 300,000 USD and 50 charity houses worth 87,000 USD. Trade union units are making lists of workers who need a free trip home.
Ta Van Duong, Head of the Laws and Policies Department of the Hanoi Confederation of Labor, said: “We plan to help 90,000 workers return home for Tet. The Hanoi Confederation of Labor will provide 40 vehicles. We have asked the Department of Transport and the Transportation Group Transerco to help. Trade union units and businesses will share expenses.”
Trade unions are working with businesses to ensure that salaries, bonuses, and worker welfare are delivered on time. Bonuses will range from 150 USD to 200 USD per person.
