Many businesses owned by women employ hundreds of workers. A few employ more than 1,000. Female entrepreneurs have promoted innovation and applied technological advances to production to improve product quality and boost profits. Many have pioneered new market approaches to generate more opportunities.

Ms. Bui Xuan Huyen Thu, Director of the HDC Porcelain Company, said her company has more than 100 workers earning between 250 and 1,200 USD per month.

"We have focused on the gift business because it allows us to raise our revenues quickly. We have participated in several events where we delivered free gifts to attract new orders," said Ms Thu.

The Hai Phong Female Entrepreneurs’ Association has been a big part of local female entrepreneurs’ success. The Association has helped them obtain preferential credits, expand their markets, and sell their products overseas.

Nguyen Thi Minh Ha is Chairwoman of the Association. She said: "We have helped our members through trade promotion activities which have attracted businesses from other provinces, including Binh Phuoc, Son La, Hai Duong, Ha Noi, and Ho Chi Minh city. We have organized online and offline courses to connect businesswomen with digital technology and innovation. Many of them have successfully applied 4.0 technology to their production."

Businesswomen in Hai Phong have also been active in social security programs. They have spent 1.2 million USD to help Women’s Associations at all levels repair or build 14 charity houses for poor women and social beneficiaries, build public housing for teachers in mountain areas, pave rural roads in An Duong district, and improve border roads in Lang Son province.

Hai Phong businesswomen have also led efforts to care for and foster children orphaned by COVID-19.
