Hai Duong has cultivated 8,800 hectares of lychee this year, mainly in Thanh Ha district and Chi Linh City. Most of these cultivation areas follow safe production practices with 12 receiving Global GAP certificates and 56 certified under Vietnamese VietGAP standards.

From the outset of the season, training sessions for farmers have been organized on lychee cultivation techniques aligned with VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards.

Pham Duc Loc, Head of Cultivation and Plant Protection at the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment said: "We not only aim to ensure productivity and quality but also consider food safety essential in lychee production. To start with, the agricultural sector has closely coordinated with local authorities to guide farmers in following safe production processes. As the harvest begins, we continue working with specialized agencies to supervise growing areas and packaging facilities."

In addition to maintaining its traditional export market in China, Hai Duong is expanding its presence in high-end markets such as the United States, Australia, Japan, and European countries. Thanh Ha district alone is expected to export around 2,000 tons of lychees to these premium destinations.

Hoang Thi Thuy Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the Thanh Ha District People’s Committee, said: "This year, we expect to export 35,000 tons of lychees, a significant increase compared to last year. We closely monitor the entire production process to meet each market’s specific requirements, whether it's sugar content, packaging methods, or product design."

This month, the Hai Duong Department of Agriculture and Environment, in coordination with the Department of Industry and Trade, will host a series of events, including a garden opening ceremony for the "Hai Duong Lychee Season 2025", a trade promotion conference to boost the sale of Thanh Ha lychees, and a launch for the export of the first batch of lychees.

Hai Duong forecasts a bumper harvest this season, with an estimated output of up to 65,000 tons, up 10,000 tons more than last year’s total.
