Flowers are much sought-after on Valentine’s Day. Nguyen Anh Xuan, who owns a flower shop in Pham Ngoc Thach street, Hanoi, said that this year, orders for flower have increased 30 to 40%. A lot of people have ordered flower deliveries at a certain time on Valentine’s Day to surprise their lovers.

The prices of all kinds of flowers have increased. One Da Lat rose costs 15,000 to 20,000 VND, and the price of an imported rose ranges from 50,000 to 80,000 VND. A bouquet of roses arranged in a heart shape may cost 1 to 1.2 million VND.

Chocolate is a popular gift on Valentine's Day. Supermarkets in Hanoi say that this year chocolates made in Vietnam are selling well because of their reasonable price (150,000-300,000 VND per box) and new flavors such as green tea and honey.

Lotte Mart is running a "Pink Valentine" program until February 21 with big discounts for chocolates, aromatic candles, and fruits. Co.op Mart is offering a 50% discount on 1,400 products such as garments, cosmetics, perfume, and cookies.

Online vendors like Lazada and Shopee, and online shops on social networks have cosmetics, clothes, eyewear, watches, footwear, accessories, and decorative items on sale.

This year Valentine’s Day is on Tuesday, a work day, so more people are shopping online than in previous years.
