According to a report from Google Destination Insights, searches for flights to Vietnam and accommodations in Vietnam had the highest growth rate worldwide from last December to this February. Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Phu Quoc, and Nha Trang are the most searched destinations in Vietnam.

Media in the Middle East have highlighted Vietnam’s reopening. Egyptians are interested in visiting Vietnam on holiday or to seek business opportunities.

An Egyptian named Mohamed said: “This is great news for businesses and tourists. I went to Vietnam in 2018 to seek business opportunities and to travel. The food is great. I visited many places in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Hue, and Ha Long Bay. I’ll return to Vietnam soon.”

“Hello Egypt Tours” had offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, but stopped doing business in Vietnam during the COVID-19 pandemic when international flights were suspended. Director of “Hello Egypt Tours” company Mohamed Gad says they have reactivated two-way tourism programs.

“I’ve learned that Vietnam has reopened to international tourism. I’m working on tourism and promotion programs and will reactivate liaisons in Vietnam to bring tourists to Egypt and vice versa. I think many Egyptian tourists want to visit Vietnam. Some people need more time before they travel again, but I believe tourist numbers will soon return to pre-COVID-19 levels,” Mohamed Gad said.

Dang Quoc Binh, chargé d'affaires of the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt, said a number Egyptian businesses and individuals have asked the Embassy about Vietnam’s entry regulations for tourism and business.

“The Embassy has explained to them the necessary procedures and new regulations on pandemic prevention, visa issuance for tourists, investment policies, and famous tourist sites in Vietnam. I believe Vietnam is going to receive a lot of tourists and business people from Egypt and the Middle East,” Binh said.
