The festival, which will continue until Friday, features a boat race, a weaving contest, drinking wine through a tube with the Khang ethnic group, displays of Quynh Nhai handicraft specialties, and an ethnic dish-cook-off. Visitors can try folk games like throwing a Con ball, shooting arrows, and tug-of-war. Lo Van Manh is a boat racer who lives in Ca Nang commune: “I’m very happy to be in the boat race with my friends. We’ll do our best to preserve the traditional characters of the Quynh Nhai boat race.”

This year’s festival will also include tourism activities like the Da River’s fish market, a mountain trade fair, a boat trip on Da Lake, and tours to historic sites. Dinh Thi Huong, a tourist from Dien Bien, told us: “I feel happy and fresh. There are new cultural, sport and tourist activities. I’d like to invite my relatives and friends to attend the next festival.”

The festival promotes local economic development. Dieu Thi Dan, Vice Chairwoman of the Quynh Ngai district People’s Committee, said: “The festival introduces Quynh Nhai’s tourist attractions and hospitable people and promotes the trademark of Da River fish.”
