(VOVWORLD) - Da Nang and Khanh Hoa have become popular destinations for international tourists, the majority of them from India and South Korea. To cater to this demand, Vietjet Air has recently launched direct flights connecting Da Nang and Nha Trang with Ahmedabad of India, and Daegu of South Korea.

Last Thursday, the first Vietjet Air flight from Ahmedabad landed at Da Nang International Airport, bringing 120 Indian tourists. Among the passengers were travel agents on a fam trip to explore Da Nang’s attractions – the Ba Na Hills, Son Tra peninsula, Linh Ung pagoda, the Marble Mountains, and the ancient town of Hoi An.

Vietjet Air Vice President Do Xuan Quang said the carrier will operate twice-weekly flights between Da Nang and Ahmedabad, and plans to expand this as demand from the 1.4 billion population market grows. This new route boosts connectivity and tourism exchange between the two nations and increases Vietjet Air's Vietnam-India routes to eight, with 60 flights per week.

Mr. Quang said: "India is a highly promising market with significant potential for Vietnam’s tourism industry. Da Nang is a key destination to attract Indian travelers. In the future, we’ll continue to explore and expand new routes as demand grows. With the support of partners, travel companies, and agents developing larger tour packages for Indian tourists, we plan to open additional routes to Vietnam."

The Da Nang-Ahmedabad route will play a vital role in fostering economic, cultural, and tourism ties between the two localities.

Tan Van Vuong, Deputy Director of Da Nang’s Department of Tourism, said: "This year Da Nang has seen a strong influx of international visitors, surpassing the tourism industry's target. To further diversify its visitor base, Da Nang's tourism sector is promoting Da Nang in key markets across Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, and India."

On Sunday, Vietjet also launched a daily direct flight between Daegu in South Korea, and Cam Ranh in Khanh Hoa province. There are currently more than 20 flights per day from Seoul, Busan, and Daegu to Cam Ranh, 6 of them operated by Vietjet Air. According to the Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism, South Korea is Khanh Hoa’s largest international tourist market. The new Deagu-Cam Ranh route is an important milestone in expanding Vietjet’s network in South Korea.

By September, Vietnam had welcomed nearly 3.7 million South Korean visitors, a 30% increase over the same period last year.
