Drama stages in Ho Chi Minh City open for Tet

(VOVWORLD) - As the COVID-19 pandemic is under control in Ho Chi Minh City, many entertainment activities have been resumed. The city’s drama stages have opened to serve audiences during the Lunar New Year holidays.

IDECAF Stage, a leading private drama troupe in HCM City, will kick-start with 3 new plays while Tran Huu Trang theatre is offering free performances of 3 new plays accompanied by Don ca tai tu (amateur singing in southern Vietnam). Chi Linh-Van Ha theatre will bring to the stage the drama “Luong Son Ba-Chuc Anh Dai” next month. Many private drama stages are also ready to welcome audiences this Tet holiday.

The National Drama Festival 2021, held in Ho Chi Minh City, was the first great event that triggers the resumption of the city’s drama stage.

Meritorious Artist Trinh Kim Chi, Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City’s Theater Association, said, “All the artists are working hard to prepare and very eager for the opening of the stage to the audience during Tet. We feel so excited and inspired.”

Meanwhile, the private theatre run by People’s Artist Hong Van is rehearsing for 2 plays “Turning point” and “The house on the boat”.

“When the city announced the reopening of entertainment activities after a long suspension due to the pandemic, we feel so happy. This coincides with the occasion of the Lunar New Year, so we have to work very hard to prepare,” said Hong van.

The private drama stage 5B Vo Van Tan run by Meritorious Artist My Uyen will open on the first day of the first lunar year. Uyen said all the artists are preparing unique plays during Tet holidays.

“We hope to cheer up the audience with our performances after a year with a lot of worries about COVID-19. We plan to entertain the audience with plays full of fun and also reflecting daily life,” said Uyen.

Ho Chi Minh City’s Drama Stages have resumed after 2 years of COVID-19, hoping to bring entertainment to audiences for Tet which will begin next Tuesday.
