APEC Public-Private Dialogue focuses on women’s empowerment

(VOVWORLD) - The 2017 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Public-Private Dialogue on Women and the Economy has focused on the importance of empowering women and encouraging them to participate in economic activities to achieve sustainable and inclusive growth in the region.

The dialogue, which closed in Hue City on Thursday, was part of the 2017 APEC Women and Economy Forum.

Participants discussed the enhancement of economic, financial, and social coverage for women; women’s entrepreneurship in the digital era; and building of a vision for women’s economic empowerment in the Asia-Pacific region.

Ambassador Nguyen Nguyet Nga, senior advisor to APEC Vietnam 2017, said: “The dialogue reaffirms that APEC continues to lead in boosting gender equality and empowering women on economic issues and in contributing to regional economic development. We all agree on the need for specific actions to realize APEC targets.”
