The move reflects the province’s strong determination to put an end to illegal fishing, promote sustainable fisheries, and lift the “yellow card” issued by the European Commission (EC).
Currently, more than 98% of Quang Ngai’s 4,800 fishing vessels have installed vessel monitoring systems (VMS). Local fishing vessel data has been fully updated in the national fisheries database. Vessel owners are required to regularly check their equipment, strictly comply with vessel monitoring regulations, and prevent violations of fishing boundaries.
"The Provincial Military Command, particularly the Border Guard, is leading efforts against IUU fishing. With awareness campaigns completed, the focus now is on monitoring local fishing vessels at sea," said Vice Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee Do Tam Hien.
