(VOVworld) – The White House on Tuesday announced a plan to withdraw all US troops from Afghanistan by the end of this year. The announcement came after the US failed to persuade the Afghani government to sign a Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) authorising the presence of US troops in Afghanistan after 2014.

The announcement left open a possibility that some troops might remain in Afghanistan for training and consultation with Afghanistan’s security forces to deal with al-Qeada. According to the White House, at a recent meeting with Afghanistan President Harmid Karzai, President Barrack Obama reaffirmed US support for a fair and reliable election in Afghanistan early April and vowed not to support any particular candidate. He said the US must create a plan to withdraw all its troops from Afghanistan because Mr Karzai refused to sign the BSA.
