Five artisans from each team, dressed in traditional attires, must wrap Chung cakes by hand in 15 minutes. Later the same day, teams sent out six artisans to compete in making Giay round sticky rice cakes. The cakes must be decorated with blessings in Han-Nom scripts for prosperity, happiness, and longevity.
The competition has been a staple of the Con Son-Kiep Bac Spring Festival for many years. The best works are offered to deities during ceremonies and processions to pray for peace, health, and prosperity at Con Son Pagoda, Nguyen Trai Temple, Tran Nguyen Dan Temple, and Kiep Bac Temple.
