Deputy PM Hue praised the growth of bilateral relationship over the past few years especially bilateral cooperation in economics and trade. Trade totaled 60 billion USD last year. Mr Hue affirmed the Vietnamese Government’s readiness to improve Vietnam’s investment environment and make it easier for US firms to do business in Vietnam.

Secretary Mnuchin spoke glowingly of the prospects for stronger bilateral relations in economics, trade, and investment, as well as the Vietnamese Government’s attention to US concerns. Mnuchin said he hopes both sides will continue to cooperate and greatly appreciates Vietnam’s providing information to the US about Vietnam’s financial and monetary policies.

The two agreed to step up their financial, economic, trade, and investment cooperation in anticipation of the 25th anniversary of Vietnam-US diplomatic ties next year.
