Le Ngoc Tuan, Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, said plastic pollution is an extremely serious environmental challenge.

As head of the Vietnamese negotiating delegation at the session, Tuan said Vietnam supports a legally binding global agreement to address the issue.

But, he said, Vietnam wants the agreement to make the responsibilities of each country consistent with its development level and capacity. The agreement should take into account implementation methods, finance, technology, capacity, and assessment of future impacts.
