(VOVWORLD) - US President Donald Trump has not laid out a timetable for action in response to a suspected chemical attack in Syria, despite his warning that missiles will be coming, White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said on Wednesday.

She said Trump has a number of options, not just military, that all options are still on the table, and he is assessing how to respond.

British Prime Minister Theresa May ordered submarines to move within missile range of Syria in readiness for strikes against the Syrian military that could begin as early as Thursday night. Russia said it will deploy several military units to Douma to ensure security and support the local people.

On Wednesday, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres voiced concerns to the Security Council’s 5 permanent members about the situation in Syria, stressing the importance of not letting the situation spiral out of control. He called for further efforts to end the terrible suffering of the Syrian people.
