IFRC’s 11th Asia-Pacific Regional Conference concludes

(VOVWORLD) -  The 11th Asia-Pacific Regional Conference of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (AP11), themed “Asia-Pacific: Preparedness for Disasters”, concluded in Hanoi on Thursday.

Over the past 4 days, delegates discussed challenges and opportunities of humanitarian work and ways to address related problems. They expressed interest in empowering and protecting vulnerable populations.

Speaking at the closing session, President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society Bui Thi Hoa, said the challenges we’re facing are not small, requiring us to work together to become stronger to create positive changes, contributing to building a more resilient, integrated Asia-Pacific region.

She said: "Our mission is to use the knowledge and experience gained with new, creative thinking and partnerships from this Conference, to jointly realize the Hanoi Declaration 2023 to bring benefit to vulnerable people in each country and region. We continue to protect, support, and empower those who need help to become stronger. We continue to strengthen partnerships and build the capacity of each national association to confidently and self-reliantly shoulder humanitarian missions in the digital greening era.”

Vice President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Ms. Maha al Barjas said the Conference was a great success, demonstrating the solidarity of the Red Cross and Red Crescent societies of the countries in the region.

The IRFC representative also highly appreciated Vietnam's organizational work and hospitality, enthusiasm and dedication of Vietnamese people and those at the Vietnam Red Cross.

Before the closing session, the Conference held a plenary session to discuss the Constitution of the Society and approved the Hanoi Declaration 2023.
