In response to a changing political and social context, different Vietnamese dynasties changed the name of the country from Van Xuan to Dai Co Viet to Dai Viet to Dai Nam, and Vietnam. The exhibition is divided into 3 sections: Country names of Van Lang and Au Lac in the early period of nation building, the feudal monarchy period, and the 1945 August Revolution to now.  Dr. Nguyen Van Cuong, the Director of the Vietnam National Museum of History, said: “This is our special exhibition this year. It presents an overview of Vietnamese history through stories about country names and capitals. Documents and artifacts show that Vietnam has existed for more than 4,000 years and feature Vietnam’s history of construction and defense.”

The exhibition will continue until October.
