Three years into Russia-Ukraine conflict, Russia begins 2nd negotiation phase with US

(VOVWORLD) - Since Russia launched its ‘special military operation’ in Ukraine in 2022, Ukraine has lost control of about 11% of its land, according to the Institute for the Study of War, a US-based conflict monitor.

Millions of Ukrainians have fled their homes, either to other parts of Ukraine or other countries. Just over 6.3 million Ukrainian refugees are living in Europe, including about 1.2 million in Germany, nearly 1 million in Poland and 390,000 in the Czech Republic, according to data through the end of 2024 from the UN’s refugee agency.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov on Sunday said the second stage of US-Russian talks will be held at the level of department heads. According to Euronews, US President Donald Trump said Moscow and Washington will hold talks on Tuesday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The first stage of talks between the Russian and US delegations took place on February 18 in Riyadh.
