General Secretary Lam also awarded 200 scholarships to outstanding students there. He said this working visit provides a practical experience to supplement the Politburo’s Draft Resolution on educational reform in the new period.
“The Party's goal is to build a new, comprehensive education system that is on par with the world but must preserve the Vietnamese cultural identity. We must train a young generation that is not only intellectually excellent, but also physically fit, rich in cultural identity, capable of competing with the world powers, affirming the country's global position."
"The education system must be extensively reformed, developing creative skills, STEM, foreign languages, digital skills, advanced technology and music appreciation. As the country is now peaceful and unified, I hope that the children will continue to study and become youth of the era and access the world's modern education,” he said.
Party leader Lam called on the government and the education sector to continue modernizing and improving the quality of education and training, narrowing the gap between schools in central areas and schools in remote areas, as well as effectively implementing the Politburo’s Resolution No. 57 on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation.
