(VOVWORLD) - Party General Secretary To Lam chaired the first meeting in 2026 of the Standing Committee of the Central Steering Committee for the development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation in Hanoi on Thursday.

Also attending were Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Cam Tu.

In his address, the Party chief requested that the implementation of Politburo Resolution 57 on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation be carried out more decisively, systematically, firmly and effectively.

Highlighting seven tasks for ministries, sectors, localities and the entire political system to implement in the coming period, the Party chief called for their urgent and coordinated execution.

He said: “Ministries, sectors and localities should focus on promoting the application of science and technology and digital transformation in every sector, field and enterprise and review and assess the technologies currently used in production in order to upgrade and transform them, thereby creating higher productivity and greater efficiency and directly contributing to the country’s double-digit growth target."

"The Party Committees of the National Assembly, the Government, the Ministry of Justice and other relevant agencies need to urgently conduct a comprehensive review of legislation related to science, technology, innovation and digital transformation, so that it can be incorporated into the legislative orientation of the 16th National Assembly and the strategy for building and improving the legal system in the coming period,” stressed the Party leader.

General Secretary To Lam also requested ministries and localities to continue improving flexible financial mechanisms, focus on building data infrastructure, and strongly implement solutions for the development of strategic technologies. He stressed the need to improve the quality of human resources and further strengthen international cooperation in science and technology.
