Parts of Gaza are on the brink of famine after more than seven months of fighting between Israel and Hamas. Shoukry repeated calls for Israel to open other land crossings for the delivery of aid.

Karim Khan, chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) is seeking arrest warrants for leaders of both Israel and Hamas, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, over actions taken during the seven-month conflict.

He accused PM Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and three Hamas leaders — Yehya Sinwar, Mohammed Deif and Ismail Haniyeh — of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

A panel of three judges will decide whether to issue the arrest warrants and allow a case to proceed. Both the Israeli government and Hamas rejected the ICC prosecutor's request.

According to Gaza’s health ministry, at least 35,500 Palestinians have been killed and 80,000 others injured since the fighting broke out.
