Delegates at the workshop who are representatives of central management agencies, coastal localities, research institutes, and the Vietnam Marine Farming Association discussed ways to ensure the sustainable development of Vietnam’s marine farming.
Tran Dinh Luan, General Director of the Directorate of Fisheries, said: "We should re-organize production for farmers in coastal regions and promote technology based on the environment load. We already have plans for technology transfer and now need to integrate tourism into marine farming to help farmers improve their lives."
The marine farming sector aims to attract more investment, restructure production, set up information channels, and link with other economic sectors in order to become a large-scale commodity production sector, create branded products, and protect national maritime sovereignty.
