Representatives of nearly 40 UN member countries attended the meeting. Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, Head of Vietnam’s mission to the UN, said that countries are responsible in addressing disputes and conflicts and intermediary methods are commonly used and have proved to be effective. He affirmed that regional organizations are capable of acting a key role as intermediaries in addressing regional disputes and conflicts. Most countries supported the use of intermediary measures in this matter while urging the UNSC to continue its political support for intermediators and mediators through capacity building of regional organizations while encouraging women’s participation in this process.
