Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung said: “The admission shows the appreciation of Vietnam’s global status, both economically and politically. The fact that Vietnam won more votes than other Asia-Pacific countries like South Korea and Malaysia illustrates the recognition of Vietnam’s achievement during its renewal period, especially our reform efforts and commitments to finalizing the trade and investment laws.”
Vietnam started to contribute to building the international law since 2016 when a Vietnamese diplomat was elected to the UN International Law Commission. Membership of the UN Commission on International Trade Law is also a chance for Vietnam to learn experience to fine-tune its own economical laws, serving its international integration and economic development.
