The event which involved nearly 30,000 voluntary blood donors, aims to provide blood for more than 170 hospitals in northern Vietnam. Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long called on cities and provinces to organize blood donation drives all year round to help save patients. Ms. Nguyen Huong Lan is a blood donor: “This was the 5th time I donated blood. I am so happy to help people who need blood for their treatment. I hope that more people will do like me”.

Nguyen Anh Tri, Director of the National Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion, said this blood donation festival has been replicated in cities and provinces nationwide. Nearly 51,000 units of blood have been collected over the past 9 years.
