(VOVWORLD) -Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan on Wednesday had a meeting with President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan within the framework of her visit to UAE.

The UAE President affirmed that the UAE considers Vietnam an important partner in the Asia-Pacific region, and wishes to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in all fields. Vice President Xuan said Vietnam values and wishes to further strengthen the friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with the UAE.

The two sides emphasized that priority should be given to promoting the exchange of delegations at all levels; actively coordinating and supporting each other at global and regional forums and organizations; organizing people-to-people exchange activities and cultural and art performances, especially on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the UAE.

In order to soon achieve the 10 billion USD trade turnover target, the Vice President suggested that the two sides encourage businesses to participate in investment and trade promotion activities, create favorable conditions for each other's exports, continue to improve the legal framework to support economic cooperation, especially the early start of negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Vietnam and the UAE.

The two sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation in investment attraction, oil and gas, renewable energy, logistics, agriculture, and halal products and will soon hold a meeting of the Vietnam-UAE Intergovernmental Committee this year to review and work on measures to promote bilateral cooperation.

The UAE President pledged to continue to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to grow and contribute more to the friendship between the two countries.
