Mr. Phan Van Mai, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City’s People’s Committee, said Ho Chi Minh City, often called “the sleepless city”, offers lots of activities and has become a popular destination for Australians and other foreign tourists.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, the city welcomed 5 million foreign tourists last year, including 240,000 Australians.

According to Ms. Karla Lampe, Executive Director of Trade and Investment for New South Wales, Vietnam ranks 9th on the list of Australians’ favorite tourist destinations. Australia is coordinating with the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism on measures to increase the number of tourists traveling between the two countries.

After New South Wales, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism will organize activities to promote Vietnamese tourism in Melbourne.
