(VOVworld) – Vietnam wants to tighten its traditional friendship with Cuba, said Hoang Binh Quan, special envoy of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong during his meeting with President of Cuba’s Council of State Raul Castro this week. Quan, who is also Head of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee's Commission for External Relations, was on a visit to Cuba to speak about the outcomes of the 12th National Party Congress.

Quan expressed his delight at Cuba’s achievements in updating socio-economic models and promoting foreign relations, saying he believes these are the momentum for Cuba to reap greater success in socio-economic development towards a prosperous socialist nation.

Raul Castro congratulated Vietnam on the success of its Party Congress which, he said, will lay an important political foundation for Vietnam’s renewal process and construction of socialism. He appreciated Vietnam’s experience gained through its development. Raul promised his utmost to strengthen bilateral relations. He also briefed Quan on preparations for Cuba’s 7th Party Congress due in April.
