Vietnam to further improve business and investment environment to attract Korean investors, says President Phuc

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam will continue to strongly improve its business and investment environment to attract foreign investors, including investors from the Republic of Korea, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc said at a reception in Seoul on Monday for leaders of Korean corporations.

While receiving Kyung-Shik Sohn, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the CJ Group, which invests in Vietnam in food production, animal feed, biology, logistics, and culture, Mr. Phuc encouraged the CJ Group to continue to expand investment in Vietnam.

At his meeting with Chairman and CEO of Lotte Holdings Company Shin Dong-bin, President Phuc welcome Lotte’s decision to kick off a large project in Ho Chi Minh City in early September, put Lotte Mall Hanoi into operation next August, and invest in a modern commercial center and urban area in Long An province.

Talking with Chairman of the Daewoo E&C Group Jung Won-ju, President Phuc asked the firm to invest in large hospitals, infrastructure, oil and gas, and smart cities in Vietnam.

Mr. Phuc also received leaders of LG, Hyundai Motor, GS E&C, Doosan Enerbility Company, the Saigontel/Kind business group, and the Dat Viet/Kocham partner group.

On Sunday President  Phuc met with officials and employees of the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Korea in Seoul, as part of his State visit.

“The biggest issue is to raise the intellectual level of Vietnamese people in a developed country like the Republic of Korea, not just unskilled workers, although they are also necessary. In the era of Industry 4.0, innovation, education, and high-quality are vital. The number of students, innovators, and start-ups must increase from which there will likely be Vietnamese unicorns,” said Mr. Phuc.
