Vietnam, Finland vow to strengthen bilateral ties

(VOVWORLD) - Head of the Party Central Committee’s Organization Commission Truong Thi Mai paid a working visit to Finland this week where she had meetings with Chairman of the Finnish Parliament Jussi Halla-Aho, Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, Chairman of the Communist Party of Finland Liisa Taskinen, Chairman of the Finnish-Vietnamese Friendship Association Mauri Raveala, visited the Vietnamese Embassy, and met with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Finland.

At the meetings, Ms. Mai proposed that the two sides continue to promote the exchange of high-level delegations and expand bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, science and technology, innovation, forestry, telecommunications, and people-to-people exchanges. She also asked Finland to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in the resident country.

Finish leaders stressed that both sides should take better advantage of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement.

The two sides affirmed the principle of respecting international law and the United Nations Charter in resolving international disagreements and disputes and wished to strengthen relations between the EU and ASEAN and Finland and ASEAN in particular for peace, cooperation and development in the each region and the world.
