Vietnam exerts great efforts in implementing SDGs

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam, a developing country, has exerted great efforts to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and has seen fruitful results, said Professor Carl Thayer of the University of New South Wales (UNSW).

He cited a 2021 United Nations report as saying that Vietnam is on its way to completing SDG 1 on poverty elimination. Although Vietnam is facing many challenges to SDG 2 on ending hunger, it has shown improvements, he noted. According to the report, Vietnam ranks 51st of 165 countries in the SDG index, with a country score of 72.8.

Vietnam has considerable experience in implementing the UN SDGs and can provide practical policy advice on issues affecting comprehensive human rights globally, Thayer said.

He added Vietnam has made significant progress in COVID-19 prevention, protecting community health, and ensuring growth and social stability.
