The report was released on Friday by the Vietnam Institute for Economic and Policy Research, University of Economics, and Hanoi National University.
It said that the raging COVID-19 pandemic seriously affected national economy last year and the service sector managed to adapt to the new situation and gradually recovered at end of 2021.
Dr. Nguyen Quoc Viet, Deputy Director of the Institute for Economic and Policy Research said: “As the world and the country must live safely with pandemic and flexibly adapt to it, we have seen trends associated with the digital economy, digital transformation such as remote working, blockchain-based economy, internet of things, and cloud computing. After the pandemic, this trend really become the foundation and impetus for economies around the world. Developed economies have a better digital economy foundation, while emerging economies including Vietnam are still in the early stage and emerging in the service industry like finance and logistics.”
The Economic Annual Report provides basis for Vietnam to accelerate economic restructuring and growth model reform based on innovation and digital economy platform.
