Mr. Chinh was speaking at a reception in Hanoi for Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Penny Wong.

He said that Vietnam and Australia should enhance the exchange of delegations at all levels and prepare for upcoming high-level mutual visits.

Vietnam will accelerate the disbursement of Australia’s ODA for Vietnam, including the 105 million AUD package for cooperation in climate change response, especially in the Mekong Delta, said PM Chinh. He suggested that both sides consider signing cooperation agreements on labor, education and training, mining, culture, and tourism.

Foreign Minister Wong said that Australia wants to elevate ties with Vietnam. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade will coordinate closely with the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to arrange visits and meetings between the countries’ senior leaders in the coming time, she added.

On this occasion, the minister announced a new aid package worth over 94 million AUD (60.3 million USD) for climate change response in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam.
