Vietnam appreciates UNESCO’s role in addressing global challenges

(VOVWORLD) - Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Vietnam to UNESCO, Nguyen Thi Van Anh presented the Letter of Credentials to UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay on Wednesday in Paris.

At the ceremony, Ms. Anh emphasized that Vietnam upholds multilateralism and appreciates UNESCO’s role and contributions to addressing global challenges, which have contributed to peace, security, and sustainable development in the world.

The Ambassador affirmed Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification, multilateralization and promoting and upgrading multilateral foreign relations, adding that Vietnam considers culture, science and education as important driving forces for rapid and sustainable national development.

The Ambassador hopes that UNESCO will continue to support Vietnam in building new heritage dossiers, and preserving and promoting UNESCO heritage sites.

UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay praised Vietnam’s role and its active, responsible participation at UNESCO as well as the close cooperation between the two sides.
