US President Barack Obama

The president’s move came after the House of Representatives earlier this week approved the measure with a 240-181 vote, largely along party lines, that prevents taxpayer money from going to Planned Parenthood and guts the Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare. President Obama vetoed a bill Friday aimed at repealing his signature health care law.  In a letter to the Congress, the President wrote this legislation would not only repeal parts of the Affordable Care Act, but would reverse the significant progress the US has made in improving health care in America. The Senate passed the Restoring Americans' Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act in December. It was successful because Republicans used the process of budget reconciliation that prevented a filibuster by Senate Democrats.
