Biden reiterated the call for a 6-week ceasefire during which hostages will be released and aid to Gaza will be increased, although the negotiation process appears at a deadlock.
In regard of the possibility of reaching a ceasefire before the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which begins on or around March 10, Biden said he believes the goal is feasible.
The same day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said that its spy chief David Barnea met CIA Director William Burns in an effort to secure the release of hostages still held in Gaza.
The statement on behalf of the Mossad, the national intelligence agency, said Israel is keeping the contacts and cooperation with the mediators to narrow the gaps and advance agreements.
