(VOVworld) - Thousands of people on Saturday took to the streets of Stratford-upon-Avon, William Shakespeare’s birthplace, to mark his 400th death anniversary.

Participants wore characters' costumes and masks adorned with Shakespeare's face.
The same day in London, the Globe Theater’s actors replicated Shakespeare’s famous Hamlet which has been played by the theater’s artists in nearly 190 countries over the past two years.

William Shakespeare, one of the world's most famous playwrights, was born in April 23, 1564 and died on his birthday, April 23, 1616.
