(VOVworld)- Officials from the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s chapters in nine south-eastern provinces were introduced to the Provincial Governance and Public Administration Index (PAPI) at a seminar in Vung Tau city, in the southern coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau on Wednesday.
PAPI is a policy tool that measures the administration and governance efficiency of the State administration system in all 63 provinces and cities nationwide. The PAPI survey was jointly conducted by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Centre for Community Support and Development Studies (CECODES) and the Vietnam Fatherland Front from 2009. Bakhodir Burkhanov – UNDP Deputy Country Director said PAPI was an important informative indicator helping local administrations identify their strong and weak points in State management in order to make changes which can better serve their people. Front officials agreed that the index would be useful for the Fatherland Front and local people in their surveillance activities and when they give feedback on governance and public administration at all levels.
