Dolgov’s statement comes after Latvia on Monday limited broadcasting the Russia’s channel RTR to within 3 months. He reiterated that the Latvian government continued to ignore the international laws of human rights, despite recommendations from the UN Human Rights Council ensuring the rights of Latvia’s ethnic minorities. The UN Human Rights Council last month urged Latvia to fully implement the rights of non-national people and the languages of ethnic minorities. The Council also asked Latvia to review its law on national languages to ensure that non-Latvian-speaking communities could work with the authorities.
