No Vietnamese casualties reported in Taiwan (China) earthquakes

(VOVWORLD) - There have been no reported casualties of Vietnamese people since strong earthquakes and aftershocks hit Taiwan (China) on Wednesday, according to the Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei.

According to the labor agency of Taiwan, as of the end of December more than 260,000 Vietnamese were working in Taiwan, 35% of all guest workers there.

In addition, more than 100 Vietnamese are studying in undergraduate and graduate programs in Hualien.

According to the Vietnamese Students Association of Hualien, after some minor disruption of daily life due to the earthquake, the Vietnamese students are back to normal. 

The earthquake on Wednesday was the biggest in Taiwan in at least 25 years. 12 people have been killed.
