At an emergency meeting in Hanoi on Sunday, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong asked localities in the affected areas to guard against flash floods and landslides.
“The management, oversight, and operation of reservoirs are crucial now. The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control in each province must have a specific plan of action. The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting should keep localities continuously updated and provide weather forecasts that are as accurate as possible,” he said.
The Vietnam Red Cross Society has sent emergency aid, including money and essential goods worth more than 48,000 USD, to help Khanh Hoa, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, and Dak Lak, the provinces most affected by Damrey. The organisation also dispatched two recovery teams to Khanh Hoa and Binh Dinh.
