Japanese PM intends to hold talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un

(VOVWORLD) - Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida expressed his intention to continue promoting a summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to resolve pending issues.

Kishida told a regular press conference in Tokyo on Friday that an effective relationship between Tokyo and Pyongyang benefits not only the two countries, but also greatly contributes to regional peace and stability.

Regarding defense and security cooperation between Japan and the US, Prime Minister Kishida said the two sides will discuss issues to optimize coordination between US military forces in Japan and the Japanese Self-Defense Forces.
The two sides will also discuss details to promote cooperation in defense technology and security.
