Rouhani told visiting Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena that if the remaining five countries continue to abide by the agreement, Iran will remain in the deal despite the will of America”.

The same day, Iran’s foreign minister said he hopes the deal can be redesigned without the US, whose withdrawal from the agreement was a “violation of ethics and international law”. Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif was visiting China as part a tour of other signatory nations in an effort to save the agreement. After arriving in Beijing on Sunday, Zarif said he hopes Iran will be able to fashion a salvageable form of the deal. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said he believes Zarif's tour will clarify Iran’s position and help Tehran protect its legitimate national interests.
