Atomic Energy Organization of Iran director Mohammad Eslami said the enrichment levels were related to Iran’s industrial and production needs and those of Iranian people.

Eslami was speaking ahead of the resumption on Monday of talks in Vienna aimed at reviving the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

The latest round of negotiations wrapped up on December 17 as Iran's chief negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani decided to return to Tehran for consultations.

Representatives of Germany, France and Britain said they respect Kani's decision, but added that the cessation of negotiations was a "disappointing" development.

In this latest round of negotiations, Iran insisted on lifting sanctions imposed on it and preventing the possibility of the US withdrawing from the agreement in the future. Meanwhile, the US wanted Iran to return to the agreement first.
