Another main item on the agenda in the last two days of the meeting is further cooperation with developing countries in the Southern Hemisphere, many of whom have remained neutral on the conflict in Ukraine.

The G7 foreign ministers began three days of talks on Sunday in the central Japanese town of Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture. Top diplomats of the member countries shared the view that unity plays an important role in resolving geopolitical issues in the Indo-Pacific region.

Japan, as the host nation, hopes to send a strong message to the world emphasizing the group's unity ahead of the G7 Hiroshima Summit scheduled from May 19 to May 21.
