The proposed price cap, according to EU Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson, is planned for the "filling season" of gas storage that will take place before winter.
Greece’s Environment and Energy Minister, Kostas Skrekas, said a price cap at the levels is too high. A price between 150 and 200 euro would be more realistic, he said. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki shared the same view.
Spain's Energy Minister Teresa Ribeca said the EU's proposed gas price cap would drive prices higher and hamper efforts to contain inflation rise to its highest level in decades. French also said the proposed price does not meet the reality.
