He noted that the international community has closely cooperated to lead the global economy on its recovery path since the global financial crisis broke out a decade ago. He urged nations to follow the latest economic trends and take timely actions as challenges lie ahead: "We’re witnessing profound changes in global economic growth which require relevant adjustment. It’s necessary for us to follow multilateralism and common development through establishing partnership and building a community that serves our future development."

President Xi proposed pursuing an open economy to benefit all, and establishing a regional cooperative system with equal consultations from all countries involved, to build an open and free Asia-Pacific region that facilitates trade and investment.
He also suggested APEC member economies work together for world peace, safety and prosperity: "China attaches great importance to global peace values. We pledge to ensure peaceful and stable development in the Asia-Pacific region. China will always abide by the principle of respecting equality and peace to build partnership for successful win-win relations and create an international cooperative framework on the basis of equality and fairness."
