Visiting the house where Vietnam’s Declaration of Independence was written

(VOVWORLD) - The house at No.48 Hang Ngang Street was where President Ho Chi Minh wrote the Declaration of Independence by the end of August, 1945 which gave birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. Situated in the Old Quarter, a busy commercial center of Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi, it has been listed among the nation’s special historical and cultural sites.

The house has two entrances: No.48 Hang Ngang Street and No.35 Hang Can street.

The President stayed and worked at this house from August 25th to September 2nd, 1945.

President Ho Chi Minh wrote the Declaration of Independence which gave birth to the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam at this house.

The simple living room consists of a small table, a tea cabinet, and some lounge chairs.

Documents and original items related to the President’s life and work have remained at the house.

The President worked with the Party’s Central Committee in the house.

The building attracts a large number of visitors and scholars domestically and internationally.

The khaki suit that the President wore when he delivered the proclamation of independence of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on September 2, 1945.

The house at No.48 Hang Ngang Street was recognized as a national special relic site in 1979.
